Two Pleasantville councilmembers endorse Winder for NJ-2

Undeterred by the Atlantic County Democratic chairman’s recent endorsement of his primary rival, 2nd congressional district candidate Bayly Winder picked up endorsements today from a pair of councilmembers in Pleasantville, a majority-minority city across the bay from Atlantic City.

Pleasantville Council President Carla Thomas and Councilman Charles Oglesby Sr. said today that Winder is the best Democratic choice to take on Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in the conservative-leaning South Jersey district.

“Bayly Winder understands Pleasantville,” Thomas said in a statement. “He listens, he shows up, and he’s focused on the big problem of our time, making life more affordable for working families.”

“Bayly knows our challenges, and genuinely cares about our future,” Oglesby concurred. “I’m proud to support a candidate who will fight for our communities in Washington.”

Winder faces three opponents in next year’s Democratic primary, most prominent among them Tim Alexander, who won the Atlantic County Democrats’ official endorsement in both 2022 and 2024 and is now running a third time with county chair Michael Suleiman’s backing. The endorsements from Thomas and Oglesby, though, indicate that Winder isn’t willing to let Alexander win the 2026 county party endorsement without a fight.
